After many years of working in the family business, I never really got to explore my passion for baking. Baking was an after hours delight, where I baked for everyone- whenever there was a party, I would be baking, making all the cakes and desserts. After many years of making cakes for everyone I got the reputation amongst family and friends as “Penny Cakes” (hence where I got my name from).
Having kids changed my life- add to this nieces and nephews, and all the parties that followed- it was the perfect opportunity able to practise my cake skills. Being a perfectionist made me want to make every cake for them better than the previous
one I had made for them.
Before I knew it I was getting asked by friends, then friends of friends to make their cakes for the special occasions. At this point, my partner Andy realised that the business and I needed his support and help. Andy joined me, and together we have progressed to build Miss Penny Cakes. Now over 4 years later I’m busier than ever juggling my kids and my baking, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Having a Greek background I have always been around delicious cakes. I always love to try and make lots of different things, and to perfect everything that I make. I have a passion for it and I love learning something new everyday.
All my cakes are made with much love, the finest ingredients and sometimes some
tears. I enjoy being part of peoples happy times in life, and love the look on peoples faces when they see their cake arrive, especially kid’s faces. I strive to make every cake unique for each person and to their taste. I also love baking with a Hellenic inspiration.
